"Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence" - Psalms 91:3
God's saving Grace is not only Spiritual, it is physical as well. By this, I meant God not only accomplishes but also, invariably initiates for all the good things happening in our lives. His Grace initiates our Spiritual salvation and the same Grace initiates our daily physical protections from harms and dangers.
I experienced one such gracious act of God myself on 10th of July. I was driving from my office, South Block, towards Rohini (Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre). As usual, I was listening to Gospel sermons while driving, that day too. Soaked in the Gospel message I listened to, I didn't realised then, but on reflection now, I might have driven it at a steady speed of about 50-60 kms only. Upon reaching the Rajouri Garden area, while climbing up one of the flyovers, I suddenly heared a sound from the left rear side of my car. Suddenly a biker with his face covered appeared at my left side running parallelly. Staring at me for a while, he soon slowered again to only follow me at about half a meter distance. The side mirror of my car reflected clearly that the lid of my petrol/CNG tanky got opened. My natural instinct got me wonder how the lid got opened while driving, and therefore, to halt and closed the lid again. Every driver is well aware that CNG vehicles couldn't be ignited while the lid is open. But, in my case the lid got opened while running so the engine didn't stopped.
It was at this very moment that I could say God's gracious act protected me. My natural instinct was, in no time, overshadowed by another prompting. I just re-collected memories of some past road-robbery incidents. That more than one person would connive to snatch some (valuable) things from inside a running car, by initiating the trouble themselves and at the same time pretending to be the good samaritans themselves on a running busy road especially on flyovers. That one person would engage with the driver of the car to fix the problem (in my case, to closed the petrol tanky lid) while the other person(s) would get away with anything from inside the car stealthly.
Prompted that to halt the car could be the fowler's snare for me in the hands of the biker and his partners, I therefore kept driving at least for about five to six kms. The biker who initially drove behind me, having followed for sometime eventually got passed over me and I couldn't see him anymore. I then halt somewhere at a supposedly safe location and got the tanky lid of my car closed myself.
I reflect back now and I am convinced that the second thought that help me relate the present situation with past road-robbery incidents and kept me from halting in that very juncture, was God's gracious act upon me. The fowlers snare was at my doorstep. But God over-witted it. His wisdom helped me to do the right action at the right time. Had it not been for that God-sent wisdom, I believe I would surely have been the evil's victim on that day.
Therefore, I cannot but wish to keep saying that God's grace is sufficient for me. It is His grace that unveals the fowler's snares in our lives so that we can avoid them. We can't stop praising Him for all the visible blessings. Yes, His grace is even more evident in the invisible blessings. I am grateful to God for His spiritual salvation. I am grateful all the more in learning that God is not only my spiritual but my physical and mental saviour too.
