3JV4

NDTV has a popular serial called 'Walk The Talk" (what can be abbreviated as WTT) with Sekhar Gupta conducting an interview with a popular figure (most often a senior politician) while the duo will be taking a walk in an open space.

3JV4 is another WTT abbreviation good to remember. It stands for 3John Verse4. This 'WTT' stands for 'Walk The Truth'. This was a favourite advice of a very close friend of Jesus of Nazareth. By the time 3JV4 was put in black and white, John, the beloved friend (of Jesus) was over 90 calling almost all his acquaintances as 'my beloved children' as he commended them for 'walking in the truth'. This is one piece of advice worthy to be passed on from generation to generation. That is, all of us should be 'walking in the truth'.

What is truth? Truth is opposite of untruth. Let's say, to walk in the truth means not to be telling what's not true. Untrue words are cruel, unkind, hurtful and destructive. They are not loving, kind and helpful and so let's not use them.

In the Gospel he wrote at chapter 14 verse 6, John inserted a quotation from his best friend Jesus, "I am the way, the truth and the life". So 'walking in the truth' in a deeper sense means 'walking in Jesus' as Jesus is the epitome of truth. If we are in Jesus, we can 'walk the truth'.

The greatest desire of the grand old man John the Apostle, who called himself an 'Elder', was to see his 'beloved children' walking in the truth. Let us also learn to 'walk the truth' daily. May God bless you.
